St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
We're hoping to run another informal summer open this year (like in the past two years) in St. Louis, again at WUSTL, so I wanted to see who might be interested and when.
Thus, if you are interested, please go to this link and indicate your interest with your name and the dates you'd be available.
We're not exactly sure which set we'd mirror if we do do this, so if anyone has any ideas for sets which haven't been posted yet which might be appropriate for a novice ~ novice+ college field, let me know at charleshang228@yahoo.com (or post here).

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
I would (and I also speak for Delano) be interested in us doing another trash side event after the main event.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Quite honestly, I don't think June 16th is a viable date, since that's when NASAT is. As for sets, I don't know about any college sets you could mirror during the summer, but there are a couple of high school sets like ATTACK (however, I don't know how appropriate that would be for the field) that haven't been mirrored in Missouri.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Sorry, I thought NASAT was a week earlier. I wouldn't be adverse to using a more difficult high school set, if there isn't a college one.christino wrote:Quite honestly, I don't think June 16th is a viable date, since that's when NASAT is. Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Just to note, the July 21st date is contingent on Chicago Open not being that day. My personal preference is July 14th or July 21st, depending on which day CO is.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
I just realized that if stuff goes as planned, I would not be able to go on the 21st.

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Charles, I don't know if you saw the thread, but I'm pretty sure CO is July 21.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Yeah, I know. So my preferred date for this would probably be the 14th.Mickey0R0urke wrote:Charles, I don't know if you saw the thread, but I'm pretty sure CO is July 21.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Unless a more difficult set appears, we're probably going to use ATTACK for this; I've already contacted Adam Silverman and gotten approval.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
I'd definitely be up for a trash mirror afterwards.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
This is going to be the 14th; I'm going to put a detailed announcement (with payment information, etc.) in a couple of days. If you know you can staff, please let me know at charleshang228@yahoo.com.

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
On a slightly less important note, do we have a possible trash set to mirror at this tournament?
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
From what Charles told me, a CAHLFS mirror is highly possible.

I'm playing this and looking for teammates. Another trash tournament afterwards sounds excellent as well.

I'm also looking for teammates. Count me in for trash afterwards, too.

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
If none of them renege out later, I'll be playing this with fellow rising juniors Enze Chen, Jialin Ding, and Kisan Thakkar.

As things stand I'll be playing this with Itamar Naveh-Benjamin, Jacob Billingsley, and Dan O'Connor.

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
There is a group of current and former Oakville students set for this tournament who would also probably be willing to play trash.

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Tentatively, Charlie Beard and I will be playing this together. I've asked a third player, but there is still room for a fourth. Contact me if interested.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
I'm probably available to staff the academic end of things and am DEFINITELY playing the trash.
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
Will trash be immediately following STLO?

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
To clarify, we'll probably get pizza (since I don't think anyone wants to play from 1 to 9 PM without food), but we'll have that in the DUC and hopefully only take ~half an hour.Charbroil wrote:Yes.merv1618 wrote:Will trash be immediately following STLO?
Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
When will the schedule+costs for both tournaments be finalized?Charbroil wrote:To clarify, we'll probably get pizza (since I don't think anyone wants to play from 1 to 9 PM without food), but we'll have that in the DUC and hopefully only take ~half an hour.Charbroil wrote:Yes.merv1618 wrote:Will trash be immediately following STLO?

I believe the costs are listed here: http://www.moquizbowl.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2522.merv1618 wrote:When will the schedule+costs for both tournaments be finalized?Charbroil wrote:To clarify, we'll probably get pizza (since I don't think anyone wants to play from 1 to 9 PM without food), but we'll have that in the DUC and hopefully only take ~half an hour.Charbroil wrote:Yes.merv1618 wrote:Will trash be immediately following STLO?

I'm offering myself up as a free agent. Specialties of mine include physics, late 90's - early 00's boy bands, and anything even peripherally related to the show Burn Notice. Anybody want to join up?

Will, there's a spot left on my team. It's yours if you want it.

Re: St. Louis Summer Open Interest Check
To clarify, the only aspects of the schedule that still need finalization is the format (ex. Round Robin, rebracketing, etc.), which depends on the exact number of teams. Broadly speaking, you're definitely going to play 8-10 games before 4 and then have a roughly half hour lunch break before the trash event.merv1618 wrote:When will the schedule+costs for both tournaments be finalized?Charbroil wrote:To clarify, we'll probably get pizza (since I don't think anyone wants to play from 1 to 9 PM without food), but we'll have that in the DUC and hopefully only take ~half an hour.Charbroil wrote:Yes.merv1618 wrote:Will trash be immediately following STLO?
