Max Schindler is currently in second. WILL HIS REIGN OF TERROR NEVER END?

Can we nominate him as Nate Silver's protege?

Since you're giving away prizes on the hsquizbowl bracket pool, I might as well do it here too. I'll give a used book from my collection to the top few scorers, probably two or three depending on how many people end up entering. Will this be the motivation Jeffrey Hill needs to finally enter the contest? :D

Max Schindler perked up his ears at the mention of the book prize.

"A book from Chadbourne's collection? I must enter the pool in hopes of winning yet another book!"

And so it was. Schindler entered the pool, hoping to win another book from a quiz bowl related competition. Will his quest for books ever end? Stay tuned!

Just realized the number of posts on the tournament board was a big round number(12000), and that this board was one away.(16999)

I regret nothing.

The first round has been awesome so far... too bad my bracket doesn't reflect it :(

As of right now Max's never-ending quest for books looks good so far as he's in the lead, with Michael, Adam, and jnjjc423 (who is this?) right behind him. As for me, I'll be extremely lucky if I don't finish in last place.

And it's not even the first time Wichita State beat Kansas in the NCAA Tournament!

I've also created a second chance bracket group to fill out new brackets for the remaining games. Group name and password are the same as before. I'll give a book prize to the winner of this one also.

Aaaand that jnjjc423 would be me! First time doing an online bracket, didn't know to put my name there. Oops

For the main bracket pool, it looks like Josh is going to win if Duke beats Wisconsin, but if Wisconsin wins Michael will leapfrog everyone to take first. As for the second chance pool, everyone had Kentucky winning in that one, so there are no more points to be had and Jacob wins.

Somewhat embarrassingly, though, I just realized that I think the books I had planned to give away for this may still be locked up in a storage unit. I'll either go and dig them out sometime this week or think of something else to give away.
