Southwest Airlines... they had a fare sale for tickets we had already purchased and we were able to get a credit for the difference. Try doing that on most other airlines!

Sure, but this is probably the best album they've ever released (and that's saying a lot, considering the content and length of Rush's history). It's so well done, and so much better than pretty much everything else on the market. I expect to see something akin to the premiere of Rite of Spring when they play this live. (Wouldn't it be weird if that happened on the 100th anniversary of the premiere, but in response to Clockwork Angels instead of classical music??)
They'll be in St. Louis on Sept. 22. I'm thinking this is a can't miss event for any Rush fan, as it might be their last tour. I hope not, though!
Has anyone else listened to it? I think numbers 8 and 9, "The Wreckers" and "Headlong Flight" are my favorites, but every track on here is just awesome...

Yeah, I've listened to it. I don't know if I'd say it's their absolute best (Moving Pictures is hard to beat), but it's definitely very, very good. Certainly on a level above Snakes and Arrows, which I enjoyed but didn't think was brilliant.
And yes, I'll definitely be seeing them live, as it may very well be their last tour. I actually had tickets for their last show in St. Louis and ended up not being able to go at the last minute.

Speaking of albums, Vampire Weekend's new album is pretty good.

Sperber: I'm not really a fan of house/techno, but I actually liked some of the tracks on Random Access Memories.

Mizzou Volleyball. They only dropped six sets in conference play this season.

Six matches away from a national title! (Well, so are kansas and Penn State and Texas and Arkansas and IUPUI, but Mizzou's 34-0. And counting…)

Quoted on account of Tuesday's wildcard game against an Athletics squad who went 2-5 against the Royals and have the worst post-All Star Break record for a playoff team since the All Star Game started.

Of course, it should be noted that the A's starter in both of those wins is pitching on Tuesday (and also has a third post All-Star break win against the Royals when he was still with Boston), so hopefully the Royals will finally break through against him for the first time this season.

-edit (x2)-
Then again, Shields got the win in both one of his starts against Oakland and the Royals won the other game he started as well.

The winner of this series gets Anaheim (oh, sorry: the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.) Royals went 3-3 against them in the regular season. If Royals win that series and Baltimore outlast Detroit, then the Royals would also bring a 3-3 regular season against the Orioles. Could work out well for the Royals if the Tigers fall apart at Camden Yards and the Royals don't do what conventional wisdom expects them to do.
