Hallsville is pleased to announce the seventh annual Hallsville Invitational Tournament to be held February 2nd, 2019. This tournament will be run in the twenty tossup/bonus format on NAQT IS-182A. Since this tournament will be held on a NAQT set, this will be an opportunity for you to qualify for NAQT's HSNCT in Atlanta, GA on May 24-26, 2019 or NAQT's SSNCT in Rosemont, IL on May 3-5, 2019 (provided that you qualify as a small school under NAQT's definition https://www.naqt.com/ssnct/qualification.jsp). Games consist of twenty tossups worth ten points each followed by non-rebounding bonuses worth up to thirty points. Tossups will feature "powers" (additional points awarded for correct buzzes very early in the question) and "negs" (5 point penalty for interrupting a tossup question and answering incorrectly).
We anticipate using two full round robins in the morning and afternoon with an advantaged final to decide the champion depending on the number of teams registered.
We will also be limiting teams to a maximum of six players. But you may sign up as many teams as you wish. We are initially capping the field at 24 but are hoping to expand to 36 this year contingent on acquiring enough tournament personnel to host a larger field but still ensure a quality tournament.
Fees:
base fee (first team from each school): $70
second or subsequent teams: $65
travel discount (100 miles or more one way): -$5 per school
buzzer discount (must work for eight players; limit two per school): -$5
To register, please e-mail me at sallen@hallsville.org to reserve your spot. We look forward to seeing you in February.
