2018 Orchard Farm Eagle Invitational - March 10, 2018

Post by kstockman »

Orchard Farm is proud to announce the 3rd Annual Eagle Invitational on March 10, 2018. We will be using NAQT IS-172. Please note that this set will also be used December 2 at Kickapoo and April 7 at North Kansas City. General tournament rules will include awarding 15-point powers, 5-point penalties for incorrect tossup interrupts, and three non-rebounding bonuses for each of the 20 tossup questions. The tournament will be pooled for prelims followed by playoff rounds, and if needed, include an advantaged final.

There are no restrictions on registering aside from being a member the Missouri State High School Activities Association (or related organization for teams outside of Missouri). Teams not from Missouri are more than welcome to join.

Fee Structure
$70 - First team
$60 - Each additional team (initial cap of 2 additional teams. 4th team and beyond will be waitlisted)
$5 - Buzzer Discount per fully functional system (8+ player identification, max discount of $20)
$5 - Travel Discount per 100 miles of travel (one way, door-to-door on Google Maps)
$10 - Experienced Moderator Discount for each staff a team brings (with tournament director approval)

Registration
Rather than sending an email, please complete this Google Form to enter your school's information. Once you have received a confirmation email, you will be registered for the event.

Our initial cap for the tournament is 24 teams, but will expand if sufficient staff can be secured.

If you have any questions, my contact information is below.

Thanks, and I hope to see you at "The Farm" on March 10!

We have hit our initial cap and are now placing teams on a waitlist. If we are able to secure enough staff, there is a possibility of expanding the tournament, so please sign up if you are interested!

We have been given Platinum certification by PACE, so the top 25% of teams will qualify for the PACE National Scholastic Championship June 2-3, 2018 in Washington, D.C.

If you'd like to attend and can provide staff, it is possible that we expand!

Congratulations to Francis Howell High School for winning the 2018 Orchard Farm Eagle Invitational. Priory forced an additional game in the advantaged final, but eventually placed 2nd. Rolla placed 3rd winning in round 10 over 4th-placing Washington. Congrats to all of our individual winners, too! -- On a side note -- Congrats to Francis Howell's Ganon Evans for being recognized by MOQBA as such an outstanding member of the quiz bowl community!

And major thanks to my staff that helped the day run smoothly (despite my round 9 scheduling mistake!): Sean Phillips, Matt Chadbourne, Jacob O'Rourke, Charles Hang, Allyson Lutz, Michael McDonald (Eureka), Christina Zibart (Warrenton), Sean Wheeler (Francis Howell), Mike Flandermeyer (Lutheran St. Charles), Jon Deering (Wellsville), Emily Brasher (Oakville), Brian Santos (Francis Howell North), and my cadre of OFHS players.

Thanks again for all who came and I look forward to another great tournament next year! Good luck to everyone the rest of the year!
Kevin
