Hermann Invitational

Post by HermannScholarBowl »

Greetings,

Hermann High School will be hosting a tournament on February 21st, 2015. This tournament formed with the cooperation of the Washington High School Coach. Noticing the Washington Tournament wait list, I contacted NAQT and WHS about the possibility of a second tournament the same day. Both approved and we are set to go.

We will be using the same set of questions from NAQT (IS-142). More information will follow on the how many games can be promised (depends on how many teams), being a first time host I would like to keep it simple and limit the tournament to 16 teams. I am planning on using the 20 Tossup/20 Bonus format (We will not have bonuses or negs)

-I told the WHS coach I wouldn't undercut him on the price so cost will be:

- $65 for the first team from a school, $60 for each additional team. (B, C, D, etc.)
- Fully functional buzzer systems are a $5 discount (limit 2 per team)

Hermann is about 45 minutes west of Washington, MO on Highway 100. (roughly 15 South of I-70 on exit 175). Please contact me if you are interested in attending. Spots are already filling up since I have tried to contact teams on the wait list of the WHS tourney. Hermann High School, 176 Bearcat Crossing, Hermann, MO 65041

Plaques for 1st and 2nd place with top 8 medals in the morning rounds.

Contact me at zstobart@hermann.k12.mo.us if you are intersted in attending.

Do you mean "not have rebounding bonuses"?

Bonuses will be rebounding.

There will be no bonus points for an early buzz on the tossups, and no negative for an incorrect guess.

Sorry for the confusion.

Ah, no "powers" then. Thanks for clarifying.

You might want to consider doing the powers largely because 1) it incentives early buzzing and shortens the overall length of the matches and 2) helps make the stats more directly comparable to teams that also played but played with the powers as the set was intended to be played.

I have been told by Zach that this event has been cancelled due to the weather.

Washington is still on as of the time of this writing.
