2014 NAQT HSNCT (May 30-June 1, Chicago)

Post by Jeffrey Hill »

I guess there isn't a thread for this yet.

HSNCT is back in Chicago this year on May 30-June 1 - the weekend after Memorial Day. The field is already half full, with only Savannah representing Missouri so far.

Add Ladue and two Hickman teams.

And Rock Bridge brings us to 150 registered teams!

(That's 106 remaining spots, minus some number of reserved berths for state champions. Qualified teams should go ahead and register here.)

Add Hallsville.

As of this morning, 195 teams are registered for the 2014 HSNCT. Qualified teams should register as soon as possible to secure a spot in the field!

The field has been temporarily closed for a couple of weeks now pending the results of NAQT's various state championship tournaments. We currently have 8 Missouri teams in the field: Hallsville, Hickman A and B, Ladue, North Kansas City, Rock Bridge, Savannah, and Thomas Jefferson.

Park Hill South is now on the wait list for what would be their fourth consecutive HSNCT (and first in Chicago).

And just as I expected after they qualified this weekend, Helias was just added to the waitlist at #18, 3 spots behind Park Hill South. 23 more teams can enter the field, with those spots first going toward the 35 reserved berths yet to be determined. Hopefully most of those reserved berths end up going to teams that are already in the field!

Parkway Central joins the waitlist at #21 for what will hopefully be their return to HSNCT after their last visit to Chicago in 2010.

And just like that, NAQT expands the field to 272 (!) teams and our waitlisted Missouri teams move up to #1, #4, and #7.

Very excited to see all of these teams in the field!

We have a handful of spaces available, if more Missouri teams would like to join us in Chicago on May 31st. Register here!

It looks like Hickman is now bringing only one team to Chicago?

Here are the first game assignments. As always, teams will play other teams with similar records throughout the day. Check twitter hashtag #hsnct for results. There will probably be a link to stats on NAQT's website at some point.

Ladue 9-1 (2nd overall). Only loss was to Dorman A by 10 points.
Hallsville, Hickman, Savannah, NKC all 6-4
Helias 5-5
Rock Bridge, Parkway Central, Park Hill South 4-6
De Smet and Tuscumbia 3-7

5 out of 11 teams in the playoffs! Previous best for Missouri was 3 - Ladue/NKC/Savannah in 2011 (8 MO teams); Ladue/Helias/Savannah in 2012 (13 MO teams); and Ladue A, Ladue B, and Hallsville B in 2013 (11 MO teams).

Out of 1326 individuals, we had 4 individual scorers in the top 100:
Jared from Hallsville was #11 scorer with 74.52 points per 20 tossups heard.
Jialin from Ladue was #25 at 61.37
Ben from Ladue was #28 at 60.09
Andy from Hickman was #77 at 47.00

Great job everyone!

Hallsville finishes tied for 21st
Ladue finishes fourth after a 10 point loss to LASA B after a Ladue protest was denied following a 10-20 minute delay.

Like Sean said, this is the first time two different Missouri schools have taken home HSNCT trophies! Congratulations to everyone on a great tournament!
