Random posts about food
In the same vein as the things that (don't) suck threads and lalalalala, I figured I'd start this thread for random thoughts about food.
I could really go for some Penn Station right now... too bad there aren't any in KC.

/me cooked Hamburger Helper - Bacon Cheeseburger flavor for lunch and accidentally the whole thing. All 1.5 pounds of it.
Re: Random posts about food
Speaking of Penn Station, the cheesesteak that Quiznos advertises is terrible. I work there, and it's a blow to my soul every time someone orders it as a Philly Cheesesteak (which is kind of sad).

I had a nice Italian tonight! Guess that means this trip to St. Louis is complete and there's nothing else important to accomplish.U. Lou Sthagaim wrote:I could really go for some Penn Station right now... too bad there aren't any in KC.

Still trying to decide whether I want Penn Station or Chipotle for my drive home tomorrow.
Yes, one of the biggest reasons I still make these quizbowl trips is for the food.

I've worked at probably 150 tournaments since 1997--I have never seen a tournament do barbeque. That's going to be interesting.Machina wrote:Barbequeee! Cannot wait for tomorrow!!

Re: Random posts about food
Chipotle Thursday is a huge hit on my team at work... on any given day there's usually only 2 or 3 of us who go out to eat, but most everyone goes on Chipotle Thursday! I'm so used to it now I don't know what I'm going to do if I'm ever somewhere without a Chipotle for an extended period of time.DeckardCain wrote:Still trying to decide whether I want Penn Station or Chipotle for my drive home tomorrow.
I don't think I'll be able to come to St. Louis without stopping at Penn Station since I am rarely near them.

Funny thing. There's actually something good about me not being able to go to this tournament, since I probably wouldn't be able to eat anything...Machina wrote:Barbequeee! Cannot wait for tomorrow!!

My lunch (on top of not really eating breakfast) at Science Olympiad: Some three or four bags of chips, a big muffin, juice, and soda. Then I ate real food when I got home

Yeah, they (my mother and most of my friends in physics) also said I shouldn't have licked 9 volt batteries when I was younger, but we can all see that it didn't do any permanent damage, right?PenforPrez wrote:My mother always warned me not to.dividebyzero wrote:In an attempt to get back on topic without a complete non sequitur:

Re: Random posts about food
Hy-Vee's ad was relatively small this week, but they happened to have several key things on sale... I ended up spending over $40 stocking up on stuff, including 4 half-price boxes of typically pricey Cracklin' Oat Bran -- I love that stuff!

Re: Random posts about food
I think I'm officially addicted to Brother Kane's Sweet & Tangy Barbeque Chips. Chris can vouch for the fact that in the first couple days they stocked the machine with these chips, Ammar bought six bags. Right now, the limiting factor of how much I eat is not whether or not I'm hungry, but whether or not I have a one dollar bill and am not running late for class when I happen to pass by that particular vending machine.
(Although I'm not averse to skipping class if my chips get stuck in the vending machine like they did before English class last year...)

Re: Random posts about food
I didn't have very much food at all today, just a thing of tomato soup.
Instead I consumed plenty of non-food items, including but not limited to: a fruit roll-up, a frozen caramel espresso, lots of donuts and girl scout cookies, bottle of water, and a little bit of Mt. Dew throughout the tournament (somewhere in the vicinity of two liters...)
