During the second game vs. North, I dropped my buzzer immediately after the Moderator said, "Solve the following for X." Unfortunately, the buzzer went off.
"Parkway Central, Will."
"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, 4."
"That is correct."
It would take 5 minutes to reassure the other team that my answer was valid, as well as the best guess in the history of Quizbowl, as far as I've ever heard.

My alma mater was randomly guessing on the question about first ladies maiden names and guessed Smith on part 3, which was right...they had NO CLUE.

I played one round at ACF Fall this year, and a bonus came up about some Middle Ages pope, and I correctly pulled Innocent III from a frighteningly deep distance at the very last second.

Paul, I believe you're referring to ACF Winter.

I count this as an epic win: Playing Mo State at Brock Landers Memorial on Saturday, I had to listen while they bageled a bonus on Miley Cyrus which I would have had an easy 20. Almost getting rewarded for Miley knowledge? ....totally an epic win.

Yeah, I was a little confused because I couldn't remember if Paul even moderated at ACF Fall. It was definitely ACF Winter; I now remember that happening since I was also playing that game.Jason Loy wrote:Paul, I believe you're referring to ACF Winter.

On a somewhat similar note, me getting all state in 2005 thanks to my answers of "Princess Diaries" and "Julia Roberts" is also an epic win.KentB wrote:I count this as an epic win: Playing Mo State at Brock Landers Memorial on Saturday, I had to listen while they bageled a bonus on Miley Cyrus which I would have had an easy 20. Greatest buzz I've ever done was at a tournament last year. Had no idea what the answer was, but this popped into my head.
"*random question about a world-famous sailor*"
"...*complete and utter silence from everyone in room*"
"...*buzz*"
"Sabrina?"
"Horatio Hornblower."
"...that is correct."

When Rob Hentzel played at Iowa State many years ago, he was at practice and buzzed in on, "Its context was--"WillHack wrote:It would take 5 minutes to reassure the other team that my answer was valid, as well as the best guess in the history of Quizbowl, as far as I've ever heard.
His correct answer: The Crimean War
I was playing solo at a tournament in Des Moines a few years ago and the question started off, "He loves the city of Portland. Every time he comes it gets harder to leave."
*Buzz!* Shooter McGavin from Happy Gilmore.
