It's the last Saturday of Janurary, as usual? I would try to come but I'll be in Tulsa... sad panda.

Yes, it is on January 31st I believe. I don't know how many people on this board even plan to be involved with it, so I thought I'd make a thread to see. I know that our A team is pretty much our varsity quizbowl team.

It is a team buzzer style competition held annually at Rockhurst.

And again the format fails to accurately send the two best teams to DC.

The past two years the two best teams have been in the same division. Since the best team from each division is sent to nationals, and we were second in our division, we didn't get to go. Again.
Also, both years our "team" was good, with everyone getting points. Both years we were beaten by one player, not a team.

Well, yes, I got that much. The purpose of the question mark was to inquire for more specific information (such as who ended up winning) and not to ask for elaboration about the comment.FishyFreshman wrote:The past two years the two best teams have been in the same division. And actually, that's been the case for the past THREE years. Oak Park and Liberty were in the same division in 2007, and Oak Park was clearly superior to Mill Valley.

I hate when that happens. Both years we were beaten by one player, not a team.

Mill Valley was Grand Champion because they had one player that could answer most of it.
Pembroke got 2nd, and honestly they just weren't that good.
I'd also like to say the judges don't know what they are talking about. They had a panel of 3 or 4 people who apparently were qualified to decide if an answer was acceptable or not? But they accepted some idiotic answers that were either too vague or just flat out wrong in one case.

That kid was essentially Mill Valley's only player in 2007, too. But yeah, the quality of their "judges" that Rockhurst provides has never been too high, but it apparently has decreased over the years...

Hume was going to do that one year, but storms kept us from going.
