NORTH KC BEAT LIBERTY 38-28!!!!!!!!!!
However, this means I lost $20 in a bet against our team.

My alma mater got stomped 35-0 Friday. They just split the school and apparently 80% of the football starters from last year's 3-7 team went to the new school. The new school whipped a bad private school team 42-14, which would've been more but they kept the clock running in the second half after incomplete passes.

Looks like L-Town's going 0-4 to start the season. If they can't topple Class 5 state champs Ray-Pec, Rockhurst and Class 6 champs Blue Springs South won't be any kinder.
Most of KC will probably focus on that, but I hear the Bell Game's this Friday. Brookfield a shoe-in for eight straight wins? (I'll find out after I get done with the Truman Alumni event on Southwest Boulevard.)

Warren County suffered a 39-0 pasting at the hands of Skyline. The Hawks are 2-0 and the Wildcats are 0-2 with zero points scored.

Yeah, I left the Oak Park game last night when they hit 34-10 halfway through the 3rd quarter. The whole game was weird, made worse by them being the "home team."

Prediction: Tarkio will lose all but possibly one game, as is usual. Or as has been usual per the last ... decade or so, or something like that.
Naturally, I'm just stock-full of school spirit - can't you tell?
Last year the team only won two games all year, and those were within a week of each other...

Warren County beat the crosstown private school 10-6 in a game someone had to win.
They then lost 61-0 to the district leaders.

So I heard 6 of Liberty's seniors quit.
Also, lol @ NKC getting crushed for the last 4 games. Especially Blue Springs's 35-0 when the game was canceled at the half for weather.

In the world of backwoods football here in mid-MO...
South Callaway beat our conference rival Southern Boone 47-45 in a last-second upset!
With a 41-45 score and 0.9 seconds on the clock, at the two-yard line, our center snapped the ball to the quarterback who almost lost it. The QB barely made it over the goal line, but we did it! We got 6 points to win the game and ruined SoBoCo's homecoming!
It was probably one of the single greatest moments of my entire high school career.

For the rest of you who didn't know, South Callaway has also had a 16 game losing streak or something like that, making this more notable.

One year shortly after I graduated, 3 of Warren County's 5 away games were the other team's homecoming. I believe we sported a 16 game losing streak and a 12 game losing streak in my four years.)ashkenaziCD wrote: For the rest of you who didn't know, South Callaway has also had a 16 game losing streak or something like that, making this more notable.
Fortunately by the late 1990s we graduated from the spectacularly bad into the ranks of the mediocre, and were actually good for a few years (2003-04-05 were the first winning seasons since 1977). But Skyline got all the athletes and Warren got all the brains from what I hear.
(BTW will any of the new KC schools be split up in such a manner or is it going to be a bit more even?)

Doubtful. Staley's going to have the elitists, meaning this might be Oak Park's strongest team for a decade or so.
As for HSII here in Liberty (North Liberty as we might as well be calling it), they're planning to build the facility in two phases, the first of which will open in 2010. There won't be a senior class in there until 2012, so it shouldn't be as dramatic a split.
Oh, and Liberty finally won a game. Humiliated Lee's Summit North last week. Maybe the same will happen against the Billy Chrisman teddies this week.

Complete suckitude for Warren County's two schools, as nary a point between Skyline and Warren. Warren has totaled 16 points through 6 games.
