Power outage due to old equipment...
Winter weather for part of the day (obviously this one isn't unusual)

And now a standoff/bomb/terrorism threat that's hit international news wires...

There's not much else to get classes cancelled here is there?

Campus-wide Pearl Harbor? Guess not though since teachers probably wouldn't excuse it

Yeah with your one class today your schedule was already open as it is. I'm probably going to get less accomplished today than I would have had we had classes

It's not big news until it hits Drudge. I had hard enough of a time finding it on CNN, but that's to be expected.

You had a depressed student threaten terrorist actions. That's the name that made it in national news. Do you really think changing the name now will be a bad idea?

I was thinking that too...

The last name I heard was Missouri Polytechnical Institute or something like that... MPTI. That abbreviation would describe the contents of Rolla pretty well though.

Powdered sugar... laaaame. I was wondering what all those sirens were last night.

Off topic: Maybe some of us wouldn't be so dead set against the name change if they'd consider names that didn't suck.

anthrax isn't usually white so i didn't care. its normally yellow/brown because of impurities, its almost impossible to get pure anthrax.

I don't care much for it either, but I'm impressed that they devoted an entire domain to it.

Apparently the shift key isn't big enough for some people and they accidentally hit the Z key when they type OMG so ZOMG resulted. Minutely related to the way this happened!!!!!!!!111

Tornadoes where the sirens go off around 6:30 and are off around 6:50 then 15 minutes later the RA (I'm assuming; I didn't answer the door) comes by and says there's a tornado warning and we had to go downstairs. Luckily the going downstairs part didn't actually happen but it unnecessarily woke us up early.
