Hey, everybody. I'm Justin Myers, and until I graduated last year, I was the captain at Nixa. Right now I'm majoring in electrical engineering and newspaper journalism at MU. (Yeah, I'll be here awhile--looks like I'll be graduating in the spring of '11.) Future plans are pretty much up in the air, but right now I work for the Maneater (student paper), a couple of research groups, and MU's Formula SAE team.

I wanted to join sooner but other unfortunate events occured to me which I hope to tell you about in due time but for now here I am and my name is Stephen and I play quizbowl at Leopold High until I graduate this May. I hope to become a good and productive member of your fine online community and I like brownies and I hope to engage in many great conversations. Being forced to stay away left me with a sadness uncomparable to mundane emotions, but never fear as I have finally come to that shining beacon of hope known as the Missouri quizbowl forum. I hope to take away the pain of my absence and replace it with the rejuvenating freshness of spirit, like fresh dew or an ice-cold coca cola on a steamy summer's eve. When you pee the bed, first it is warm but then it gets cold; consider my joining a promise of blessings to come as if I was bringing you a fresh, groundbreaking type of pee that never cools, so you incontinents can stay warm at night.

My name is Erin. You can call me Erin.
I play for Blue Springs High School. I will graduate in 2008.
I don't know where I want to go to college; I'm in the process of narrowing it down. I'm considering Drake University, Northwestern University, and Knox College.
I want to double major in secondary education and European History (so I can teach high school history).
My other hobbies are pretty random. I'm in Hope Society, Youth Core, Spanish Club (when I feel like it), Hi-Step, and I'd be in FTA if I could get ahold of Mrs. Wheeler . . . I like reading, writing, doodling, making terrible puns, my friends, Sudoku, arguing about religion and politics, speaking disjointed Spanish, and rambling about pointless things like my hobbies.

I'm David Bykowski and I write questions and run tournaments in various parts of the country. Thanks to whoever posted the link on the hsquizbowl.org site--I've been interested in finding out more about what's going on Missouri and any ways we can help develop the circuit more. Like StPickrell said in an earlier post, the more communication we have between states, the better.

By day, I work as a software engineer for a contractor for NASA Goddard. By night, my wife and I run Academic Initiative, our small quiz bowl business.

Kevin Lang, class of 2009. Have played on the Tarkio High School Quiz Bowl team since last year, and unless we move, I plan to play on it for the remainder of my high school career. This year I've been the captain of the varsity team since the rest of last year's varsity team were seniors.

Future plans are undecided beyond I want to go to NWMSU for at least one year, possibly - I used to want to be a college history professor but now I'm not so sure about wanting to go into teaching. Probable majors are anything with science or computers.

As for hobbies, they include reading (nearly anything, but especially encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference books)(and Wikipedia), playing Xbox 360, Xbox, and computer games, and just browsing the Internet (again, mostly Wikipedia or other informational sites). RuneScape is fun too.

Greetings all.

I've been lurking in the outfield for a while now, but thought I'd join in the fun, since I've enjoy the reading.

I'm Chris Wonderly, proud alumnus of the North Kansas City High School quiz bowl team. I was there between 1995-99, overlapping two years with Mr. Mike Wehrman and all four years with Mr. Andy Wehrman. Good times.

Went on to college at the U. of Missouri-Columbia where I participated in college quiz bowl for a year and a half, but only went to one tournament. The MU team wasn't terribly "dedicated" during the years I was involved, though they did have lots of fun, which made it quite enjoyable. Bachelor of Journalism (Strategic Communications) and Bachelor of Science (Parks, Recreation & Tourism) from Mizzou, and now I work for the National Park Service.

Good times, but reading this board, I feel really old!
Keep up the good work!

I'm Phillip George, grad student in English at Missouri State University. I played a few events in high school. The highlight was finishing 2nd at one of the History Bowls that our History Department puts on. I think that was 2002. Since then, I've played for one CBI regional (soon to be two) and that's pretty much my entire quizbowl career.

I'm here to learn more about college tournaments in Missouri. I plan to put together a quizbowl club here and would like to field teams for future tourneys.

Having changed a decent amount since I first introduced myself here, I'll make a new post.

Name: Charles Jesse Moshe Ben Amos Dees
High School: Maur Hill Mount Academy for one semester, then North Kansas City, class of 2008.
College: Currently enrolled to begin at the University of Missouri-Columbia, will begin work on a microbiology major after getting some gen.ed. requirements done this semester.
Future Plans: helping get a quizbowl team off the ground at Mizzou, have some fun in college, and get a good paying job.
Hobbies: reading, driving, going to the beach, making money, and hanging out with my friends.

Name: Alex Dzurick

High School: South Callaway HS (Mokane, MO), class of 2008. SCHS was C3D4 for quiz bowl.

College: Mizzou. Working on a linguistics major, with possible double majors and/or minors in Film Studies, Anthropology, or Communication. I'm also a member of Marching Mizzou's clarinet section and an alternate in the Black and Gold Spirit Band. I'm working with Charlie to get the quiz bowl team off the ground here.

I must have overlooked this topic earlier for some reason and never posted

I'm Dakota Ioanis. Class of 2009 Truman High School. Other than Scholars I am also a member of my schools debate team and marching band. I also do senior mentoring at Truman where we help out the little freshmen. As for colleges I have my choices down to 3, maybe 4 (Columbia University, WashU, Mizzou and thinking about applying to Dartmouth [sometimes it helps to be a minority, otherwise I wouldn't have a chance at all in getting into those kinds of schools save mizzou]) After college I'm not sure what I want to do. For my major I was thinking something like political science or perhaps geography....

Politics are a passion for me, which is one of the reasons I have had debate for 4 years. I really do like to travel however cheesy that sounds. I love sports and I am a huge mizzou fan. For the most part I follow football pretty good, both college and NFL, and some baseball and basketball. (no nascar because that's not a sport. Any monkey can make a left turn in a car for like 1,000 times in 3 hours. I'm sorry but it's true)

OK quit with the NASCAR jokes, you dont have to like it. Jeeze, people if it was that easy everybody would do it. Have you ever gone 180 mph? do you know how to turn at that speed at a variety of degree bankings? What a about camber, drafting, and chassi adjustments. do you even know how to drive a stick shift? Sorry guys, little bit of a rant. One of my pet peeves.

Minority?

Yes I'm one quarter native american (kinda why I was named Dakota in the first place....) My grandpa was full blood chippewa, born and raised on an reservation up in Minnesota or North Dakota I think. Anyway I have an indian census number, which is what I think one calls it, which gives me my "number" (a lot like an social security number I believe) and the name of my tribe that I belong to on a little card. I have never been to any pow wows or whatever indians do when they get together or met anyone from my tribe other than my mom and uncles. I do have that number and everything is kosher and legal. This has opened a lot of doors for me that I thought would never happen for me. I'm not the top of my class but I do have decent grades and my ACT score is just a few points above the national average. So it helps :-)

I am Michael Woods of Truman HS, class of '11. I really have no clue about which college I plan on going to. I don't think I care enough about it yet. I plan on being some sort of doctor, probably cardiologist, or maybe a teacher. Last year, I was the captain of JVA at Truman, and probably will be this year as well. I play bass guitar in a death metal band, and I sing/play guitar in a blues/folk solo project. I am a part of math club. I also write a very large amount of love poems.
