Mizzou does keep getting hosed in this whole bowl selection thing.
Also, the end of the Texas-Nebraska game.

But yeah, if I get bumped down to regular decision because of this, I will behead someone.
And then since I haven't a chance to get in with regular decision and I won't be able to go many other places, I'll probably go to MS&T and bum with a couple of friends through an engineering major.

If you became a high school counselor, let the jokes begin.

I think it would be most ironic if I became a government computer protection specialist.

As a plus, if I go to MS&T and do CompSci, then I can intern with CCP, who made EVE Online, during my Junior/senior year according to Bobby Richter. Which I totally will do, because EVE is an awesome game.
Re: things that suck...
1. You are basing a decision off of something said by Bobby Richter.
2. Is there not a better way of choosing a college than by which place's professor has made good games?

1. Actually, I would've done compsci there anyways, Bobby just made it sound betterWillHack wrote:1. You are basing a decision off of something said by Bobby Richter.

2. CCP never had a professor at Rolla... I just get to intern with them if I do compsci at Rolla, which would be bitchin'. Besides, compsci is useful.

Re: things that suck...
My apartment being above three garages, the windows here being super cheap (rain blew through them one night a few months ago!), and air circulation being nearly nonexistent (near the ceiling is warm but my feet are freezing).
Also, it being constantly below freezing and having way too much snow... where was all this snow when I was younger and would have actually enjoyed it????
To illustrate how much this sucks:
* My total electricity usage yesterday: 158 kWh [Thing that doesn't suck: daily usage available online the next day. Thing that sucks: KCP&L's site is incredibly slow]
* My total electricity usage for the entire month of September: 249 kWh
(Comparing it to my highest monthly electricity usage in St. Louis of 208 kWh was the original inspiration for this post, but that didn't take into account the higher usage of natural gas, the magnitude of which I just discovered... that water heater must have been quite inefficient compared to the one here)

Collegiate academic bureaucracy...
All I want to do is spend like 10 minutes with someone going over my past, current, and future class plans to make sure I have all the requirements covered with appropriate classes that are acceptable for different credits in different required areas. My major advisor (chair of Linguistics) has no idea what most of the requirements are outside of her own program, based upon some prior conversations I've had with her regarding paperwork, etc.
I just stopped by the College of Arts & Science advising office, and they directed me towards her again. I can guarantee you that she will be of little help. Perhaps my next best option is to go to my second major (Sociology) and try to talk to someone there.
It really won't take long at all. Which is why it's frustrating. :/

Over $300 in fraudulent charges to your checking account from iTunes. Not to mention, from an iTunes account which I can no longer access for some unknown reason, even though it's legit and I've been using it for years. I've disabled my debit card and they're sending me a new one, but that does not forgive the fact that it appears my iTunes account has been compromised. The weirdest thing is that all but $2.13 of that has been re-credited to my account, although I'm still suspicious enough to have canceled the other card just in case.
Plus, Apple doesn't have a billing PHONE line...you have to submit one of those stupid online support tickets and they'll "get back to you within 24 hours". That's a load of BS...something is seriously wrong here. If they're just placing a hold, then why were there two of them for $149.99???!!!!

STL College of Pharmacy. Pharmacy was only one of my desired careers, but it was the one I was most interested in.
Next up: Indiana or Purdue, with either Bioengineering or Biotechnology, respectively.
Also, I did get into MS&T, so you might see me playing for them within a year.
But that's assuming Indiana and Purdue don't accept me. Also, to make sure this thread stays on topic: My car's tires have treads that are way too shallow, I drift every time the roads get a little moist. While drifting makes me look cool, it also makes me almost die.

I think 150-1 is entirely too optimistic, personally.

Losing a tire to a massive unseen pothole in the middle of Forsythe next to Wash U last night. Along with about three other cars in about a 15-minute period.

So my dear little pet, Jonesie, he is usually completely loving and sweet, but when you get between him and his chocolate (which is, of course, not good for him)...basically, he bit my hand really hard. and my roommate had to help me take off my brand new white sweater without getting blood on it. it was a difficult endeavour. and Jonesie is so grounded. and I'm still bleeding!

Nah, there's just not as much random posting in the miscellaneous board as there used to be. There have been times where it seemed that these threads were turning into "Jeffrey makes random comments about stuff" so it's really nothing new. If anything, you're the opposite, seeing as how your "lalalalala" thread is still alive and well after 5 1/2 years. (I didn't even realize that thread has been around that long!)LibertyMarie wrote:I am a thread-killer!!!

I get a feeling of alienation every time Valentine's Day rolls around. It just seems like everyone else is paired off and happy and I never meet anyone. It makes you wonder where you went wrong.

On my way to St. Louis on Friday I wasn't paying attention to the changing intensity scattered showers we had in KC Friday morning... the showers quickly stopped, I didn't turn down my (two week old) wipers fast enough and the friction caused one to break and fly off! I had to make a detour in Independence to get another wiper blade!

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to get one, since only like 4 people get each one...
I only know that one of my best friends got picked to be a finalist (she's the only person I've heard a positive result from) for one of the scholarships, but she's brilliant, so I was expecting no less. (And she didn't even get all of the ones she applied for either)

We're getting new seats in physics tomorrow, and I don't know who I'll be sitting next to (sadly, this is one of my biggest concerns in school right now)
Fortunately, our physics class has a grand total of 10 people (and all of us are pretty good friends) so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. Worst come to worst, I'll have to sit with Chris for the next six weeks

I would love to be able to go to WUSTL, but there are two conditions: 1) I have to get in first. 2) I have to get pretty close to a full ride in financial aid to make going there financially viable, which seems fairly unlikely right now, especially as it could potentially pale in comparison to the generous offer I have at U of Tulsa right now.
Back to things that suck, and this one isn't about school:

This (and this).
How completely awful, ignorant, and racist people can be. I very graciously lent the Mizzou team's buzzers to the Black Culture Center for their Black Knowledge Bowl last night, and I have to go pick them up this afternoon. I am most certainly going in proud to express my absolute disgust for what happened.

On a related note, I stayed up until 4:45 working on an essay in Philosophy of Mind, which meant I had no energy whatsoever to get up and go to my 9 am Indigenous Religions class, and once I made that choice it was easy to skip my 11 am Regional Dialects class. I finally got up and went to Philosophy of Mind at noon and Social Inequalities at 1. Then I went to the mall, did some shopping, got a haircut, and now I'm chillaxing.
