Savannah just played the Knowledge Master competition this afternoon. I'm not sure if it is the same as KMO but I think it is. We did pretty good and got a score of 1525. We became very irritated with each other at times and missed some points we shouldn't have, but you get 2 tries per question so we ended up getting like 183 out of 200 right or so. Just wondered if anyone else was competing?

Yea, we are doing it; we do it every year. The KMO is actually pretty cool, since you get to compete indirectly against some of the best schools in the nation...i.e. Maggie Walker, Thomas Jefferson (in VA). I think they scored around 1850 last year. INSANE.
Yea I know exactly what you mean about the bickering. Our varsity team members sometimes disagree, but it's worse when the stupid freshmen on our team yell our random answers in a futile attempt to sound like they know what's going on, and then all their little punk friends just echo their responses for the same reason. So annoying...the room gets so freaking noisy.
Anyway, results should be out by Thursday. Liberty, are you guys doing it? I know Ladue had the highest score last spring...I'm guessing they'll do well again.

Erin Marie, I insist that you cease and desist telling those auk-ful Auk puns. Can you come up anything auk-ceptionally differently, as from posts starting last Auk-tober?LibertyMarie wrote: Yes, we are going to participate in the auk-ceptional celebration of knowledge that is KMO

if by snatchy freshman...you mean...snatchy varsity who insist on their answers despite the suggestions of freshman who usually only speak up if they have some notion of the correct answer as compared to varsity who just want to save face and look smart...
Ladue is doing it on Wednsday :-X Fear

i liked camp last thursday, "for those of you who haven't done KMO before..."
and me, "because we haven't been doing it since 7th grade...?"
silly sophomores (and danny) who haven't a clue what is going on....

You have seven seconds to get the five bonus points. You only have five to buzz in for just about anything.

KMO is not an absolute tool for predicting who'll win state. It just shows how effective teams collaborate. You might have a problem with bonii (circa two years ago when we clinched a class record against you guys - would have been the state record had Tall Paul's Montgomery County not waged a better percentage against Savannah. 21-for-24 against our 31-for-36!)JimmyL wrote: AND they are in our district.

Hickman usually has a team devoted to KMO... I've never seen a Hickman A-team fare well at a tournament, let alone at a tournament.

We've been notorious for a crapload of second-chance answers. Ladue might be a major surprise.ScoBo1987 wrote: KMO Results (only MO scores above 1500):Jefferson in VA got 1849. I also get their question of the day. It's from their database of 100,000 questions. Multiple choice, five options.

KMO has a lot of math and science questions..and I know Ladue dominates them.

Reguardless of whether its Quiz Bowl oriented or not, I have to say congrats to all you guys... those are really impressive scores.
