DISTRICT ASSIGNMENTS UNVEILED FRIDAY!!!

Be advised that according to MSHSAA's website, district assignments will be unveiled Dec. 10 at 7 AM.

Should we delay polls to account for potential shifts (I.E. Koshkonong)?

Polls are due the 15th; that should be enough time for any necessary adjustments.

Hopefully they didn't screw up on more than that.

Two years ago they goofed up and posted the same districts from before redistricting, the pre-Prop 9 populations. It took MSHSAA a month to get around to fixing them and re-posting them.

Wonder if St. Pius X will still be listed. Mary Lou and Slowey retired, and there's no word of a replacement coach or if the program's still running.

I don't think they have much of a team left with her gone. She was a great coach, and it will be tough for Pius to rebuild the program.

The district assignments are up now. I noticed two notable changes from last year, but basically it looks the same.

Hey Jimmy, since when did almost half of the teams in your district have a team? (U City, CBC, McCleur North, Incarnate Word, DeSmet? I never played against any of them. Maybe McCleur? The only team you have to beat is Ladue. That will be a tough but you all can probably do it.

It sounds like Ladue has some smart kids, but didn't they get 3rd in the Parkway tournament? That would suggest their knowledge may be great but they have less quiz bowl ability than their knowledge suggests. Anyway, I'd like to be able to play St. Louis area teams more but I don't think it's in the cards. BTW, does anyone know if MSHSAA has made a statement about the Wash U tourny? I know its January 29th (at least I think so) but I still understand that it violates MSHSAA policy to compete in it. Anyway how does one go about contacting MSHSAA to ask for permission or how would one simply find an interpretation of the statute prohibiting schools from competing in national qualifying tournaments? (seems like a double standard to me as debaters go to NFL natquals every spring)

They made District 2 more challenging: Eureka, Lafayette, Pacific, Union, and Washington are up against SLUH!

Dang, when they redid Class 2 districts for 2001, we were the only district champs moved (from District 6 to 7). More comments later.

Yes. Most certainly watch out for Arthur Lei! Scogs won't be letting down on this for awhile.

yea, andrew, it seems that none of the schools in our district actually have teams. It'd be funny if "districts" this year was just us vs. Ladue. I don't even know how that work.

David, I think Ladue got third at our tournament because they had to play WCA during the semis. I'd say they are roughly as good as Eureka...and they keep getting better every tournament they go to (they only went to one last year). I just hope they don't get too good by the time districts rolls around.

Wow, Eureka will probably have a pretty tough time against SLUH.

Ask the 1980 Soviet Union field hockey team.

so... does anyone know anything about Hickman? have they had a team in years past? if it's a new team it kind of worries me, because that school is HUGE.

I know they do KMO, but I haven't heard a peep from them in actual quiz bowl in several years.
