Richland made it into the Star!
Map and all! From last Sunday's (11/28) issue of the Kansas City Star, page B4, as quoted from The Richland Mirror.
"ACADEMIC CHAMPIONS — The Richland High School Academic Team rallied from a 100-point deficit to defeat Jefferson City Helias for the championship of the Salem Academic Tournament recently.
"The perennial Class 2 state champions trailed Helias 180-80 after the first half. Richland coach Roger Stephens was so dismayed he left the match.
"But led by All-Tournament player Jared Kathcart, Richland came back in the second half to win the match 305-290."
Congrats Richland for making it into a major paper!
(If I recall MSHSAA guidelines correct, won't Coach Stephens have to explain himself to the executive board for leaving a match site during play?)

Nice job Jared.
But don't be too proud. We make it into the Kirksville Daily Express all the time.

The Daily Express is getting a new editor, who says he wants to focus MORE on local "news".

Wow, that's pretty dang cool. I wonder if they were doing the article to praise us, or to demean Helias.

Hey Jared, do you happen to remember who the strong players were for Helias?
Richland made it into the Star!
William, but he sometimes goes by Will.
Smart kid, good player, extensive knowledge, but nothing too impressive.

Yeah, I remeber Will from Helias was one of the top four scorers at Mizzou. I'll post the Mizzou stats once I get them.

It was freakin' month ago, and I've heard stories where you DEMAND print-outs of stats after each round of a tournament! What the crap gives!?

I wasn't doing the stats this time. I had Jake do them and he has them in spreadsheet form on his computer.
