I found out what was going on with Richard Montgomery as discussed above -
No one from the A team tried out (especially their top players keith and jeffrey). However, Steven Feldman from their b team tried out. So still I'd say RM snubbed it.
Otherwise, it's this weekend through Tuesday. Disney charges a buttload for wifi, so there will be no live updates/discussion of player's dandruff from me.

I'm afraid to ask.redliberte wrote:??discussion of player's dandruff
At least two years ago, I think the internet was only $10 or $12 a day. Still, though, I don't feel like paying for it this year, plus I'm not bringing my computer down with me, so unless I jump online briefly from my mother's house on Monday (she lives about 45 minutes north of Orlando), I'll be incommunicado until Wednesday.
Good luck to you guys from Missouri this coming weekend--I think you're the #1 team to beat. Look forward to meeting many of you!

If wifi is that expensive, then I won't be bringing my computer either. I was going to get all excited about bringing it, since I just got the dang thing, but oh well
Well, one less distraction, right?

I always pack along a Cat 5 cable when I go a-traveling these days. Not sure if Ethernet access is free or not.
Since Virginia is not there, I hope you guys win.

One reason I enjoy a chain hotel such as HI: express or comfort suites. You know what you get at each stop.

Oh, I always bring a cable too, just in case. It was still $10 or $12 a day for wired a couple years ago. I don't know if they even had wireless--it didn't matter since my ancient laptop could only go wireless with a USB plug-in.STPickrell wrote:I always pack along a Cat 5 cable when I go a-traveling these days. As for rooting for "you guys" to win, which you guys is that? Missouri or Maryland?

This is one thing I've been really confused by -- my family always stays in places like Motel 6 and Comfort Inn and the like, which generally have free wifi. We stayed in an Ambassador Suite hotel once for a wedding, so I assumed that they would have free wifi, but they charged. Same with the breakfast. I guess the thinking is if you have the money to stay at a ritzier hotel, you don't care about paying for all that extra stuff, especially if you're on a business trip and the company is fronting all the costs.

Dang, $10 a day for wired internets? I thought that was like free nowadays.Byko wrote: Oh, I always bring a cable too, just in case. It was still $10 or $12 a day for wired a couple years ago. Good luck to Missouri tomorrow, although tough draw by being in the same room with Pennsylvania. That is, if Team PA has any State College players on it...
I for one would have preferred the IA/NJ/WY/NH room...
I hope Team MO gets to the finals... and then loses to Team IL.

Pennsylvania is not an all-star team, nor is it State College. It is always the champion of Pennsylvania's incredibly retarded state championship (so retarded it puts Missouri to shame. If State College can't win their State tournament for the past decade or so, then there's obviously something wrong with the tournament). This year it's Scranton, of "The Office" fame, so I have a feeling that will be easier then SC.

We won our room 298. 2nd was Vermont, 3rd was Texas, 4th was Pennsylvania. And the Pennsylvania coach (who was a woman) totally sounds like a dude. So there's your gossip. Illinois pwnt their room 396. Kentucky won theirs too, Im assuming Maryland won theirs. Greg Gauthier from Illinois should probably get the All-American spot for our region (assuming they're in our region).

Really? I was under the impression that Carlo or Hunter were better.ashkenaziCD wrote: Greg Gauthier from Illinois should probably get the All-American spot for our region (assuming they're in our region).

He dominated math and their team in general. In this tournament the math is incredibly disproportional (more math even then Missouri) and he was just on fire. Hunter was only in for the 5-point round, and Carlo didn't get anywhere near as much.

That doesn't surprise me; Illinois teams are more used to the math distro than most states, as math comprises a full 20% of the prescribed IHSA distro.ashkenaziCD wrote: He dominated math and their team in general. the guy did win mathcounts a few years ago ... so if he didn't dominate math there would be something wrong

Well, Missouri is equally math heavy in terms of distribution, but Illinois gets more time for it. However, the Panasonic disribuion for Science and Math combined, I believe, is about 1/2, more than MO or IL.ecks wrote:That doesn't surprise me; Illinois teams are more used to the math distro than most states, as math comprises a full 20% of the prescribed IHSA distro.ashkenaziCD wrote: He dominated math and their team in general.
