It worked for Charlie on Thursday.

That and you announced your name when you timekept in round 2 for us.

Yeah, Kent, the thing is, I knew who you were which was odd (though, I'm _not_ the type to just walk up to someone and ask something completely randomly). You were the only person from Notre Dame I knew, so I just assumed.

Regardless, I played the second half of that game.

The f***in math killed us. Does anyone know how to boost math ability or a practice tech. or something? Oh well, we did have a fr., Logan, who gets lost in a mall, and does not come back on time, so I had to hunt him down.

Only one solution - do math, do math, do math. Skill and speed come with practice.

I finally used a good strategy today: buzz in about 2 seconds before you will have the answer calculated. That way once you're recognized you'll have worked the remaining little calculation you needed to make (such as the first two digits of a multiplication problem)

Good strategy.

Bad strategy: buzz in about 4 seconds before you have the answer, get it simplified to the square root of 20, and then have to blurt out "4 radical 5" to beat being called time. This is especially a bad thing to do in the fourth quarter of the state championship game.

Well, if anybody cares, click here for pictures of Liberty after our win. They aren't cropped or downsized any so they are anywhere from 400-650 KB.

Haha my sister got you in the background of one so I modified the image to show what should have happened four years ago... and then there would be undoubtedly no fish on this board.

Let's play a game: find Matt!

This one's hard... ;)

Oh yeah, and how does it feel to be on the cover of the program?

If I didn't know better... I'd almost say that was Uncle Mike on the left hand side of the screen...

Oh, it's great. Bill and I were joking that when I finally get around to writing my bio for the ACO webpage, that was going to be listed as my "greatest accomplishment."

Yes. When I saw them, I thought, "Hmm, well if it's still the 2004 championships, that means I can play, right?"

Yeah. We also mention this as well: since Michael skipped freshman year, he technically still has a year of eligibility left if he became a super-senior. But of course there would probably be a problem if that were the only reason he stayed an extra year.

Class 4 was much more balanced this year, but a lot of 1-2 teams.

Round robin totals:

1. Liberty 3-0, 1480 pts
2. Parkway Central 3-0, 1280 pts

3. Eureka 2-1, 1100 pts

4. Helias 1-2, 825 pts
5. Jackson 1-2, 735 pts
5. Fort Zumwalt West 1-2, 735 pts
7. Nixa 1-2, 695 pts

8. Lee's Summit 0-3, 515 pts

Helias was in a similar situation as Cape Central was in 2002. They lost their first two games to PCH and FZW, and had to win their third game by a good margin to make the finals. Surprisingly enough they made the afternoon by a sizable 90 points. Their good performance against PCH is why they made it (it was their highest score of the day)

Class 3 round robin results

1. WCA 3-0: 1395

2. Savannah 2-1: 1335
3. Notre Dame 2-1: 1190
4. El Dorado 2-1: 575

5. Lexington 1-2: 800
6. Osage 1-2: 575
7. Ava 1-2: 490

8. Bowling Green 0-3: 550

Other than the fact that El Dorado didn't do nearly as well as I had thought, the scores were a lot lower than I remembered.

Oh, and we got 100 points lower in each successive game, which I hadn't noticed til I typed them up. 565-465-365.

All I can say is congrats to all and that Liberty's Class of 2005 has set the bar considerably high.  Three team titles, national bids for SKB and the Sapphires Dance Team, five National Merit finalists, a state champ in poetry reading, and two Pacemakers.

the state poetry champion was the lovely hannah overton, class of 2006.

I'm still not worthy! And you better make sure you didn't spell Ms. Overton's name wrong in the yearbook - at last check there's only two 'o's.

yeah yeah.
we spelled it right. the only mispelling of which i'm sure is a mistake on 'masciovecchio' grrr...there are at least a few others that i caught after proofs were sent...i really don't understand why we don't check those sooner.... anyway, we're going to pick up the books on tuesday. i'm fairly excited.

and yes, it was hannah. not jason. whatever. maybe you're being sarcastic. but i don't know you and you're wrong.

Well, he was joking about me being poetry champ because of a certain poem I wrote to a certain someone. I do write poetry, but I've never actually entered a contest.
