Hallsville Fall Academic Tournament IV (10/28/2017)

Hallsville is pleased to announce the fifth annual Hallsville Fall Academic Tournament to be held October 28th, 2017. This tournament will be run in the twenty tossup/bonus format on the RMBCT set being produced in collaboration between Beavercreek and Richard Montgomery schools. Games consist of twenty tossups worth ten points each followed by non-rebounding bonuses worth up to thirty points. Tossups will feature "powers" (additional points awarded for correct buzzes very early in the question) but no penalty for an incorrect early buzz (no negs). We have removed the "negs" to encourage younger players to buzz without the fear of a penalty, so we hope that you will not only want to bring your varsity team to the tournament but your JV teams as well.
We anticipate using two full round robins in the morning and afternoon with an advantaged final to decide the champion depending on the number of teams registered.
We will also be limiting teams to a maximum of six players. But you may sign up as many teams as you wish. We are currently capping the field at 24 but may expand if we can acquire enough tournament personnel to host a larger field but still ensure a quality tournament.

Fees:
base fee (first team from each school): $70
second or subsequent teams: $65
travel discount (100 miles or more one way): -$5 per school
buzzer discount (must work for eight players; limit two per school): -$5

To register, please e-mail me at sallen@hallsville.org to reserve your spot. We look forward to seeing you in October.

One spot left and then we will start compiling a "wait list". If we can get some additional moderators we may try to expand if the waitlist fills.

I'd like to thank all the teams and coaches who attended the fifth rendition of our Fall Tournament. This was our largest one with 24 teams and we had a great time hosting it. I'd also like to thank all of the amazing people that we had staffing this event: Jeffrey Hill, Kyle Hill, Stephanie Hill, Michael Powers, Audrey Brandon, Josh Malecki, Jon Deering, Glen Decker, Logan Durk, Levi Maxwell, David Dennis, Lori Lockwood, Sam Lockwood, Emily Boyle, Drayton Bates, Ralph Waltz, Colton Hough, Dakota Tilley, Selena Allen, Emma Crocker, Braelynn Hampton, Connor Sanchegraw, Silas Clementz, Jamie Yelton and flying all the way back from Princeton just to moderate our tournament Jared Lockwood (ok...so he was in town anyway for a different reason). What an amazing staff! You guys were fabulous.
Congratulations to Washington A for going 11-0 and taking first place with Jonathan Amlong taking first overall in scoring. The stats for this tournament are listed below:

Prelims
Playoffs
Superplayoffs
Combined

PS. Thanks David for bringing those awesome donuts. I swear if I taught at Washington I would live at that bakery.

This tournament was awarded platinum qualification status by PACE, which means that the top 25% (the top 6 teams) qualified for the 2018 National Scholastics Championship, which is on June 2nd-3rd at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, VA.
