2017 NAQT HSNCT - May 26-28 in Atlanta

Post by Jeffrey Hill » Sat May 27, 2017 5:35 am

A record 304 teams are in Atlanta this weekend for the 2017 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament, including 12 from Missouri:

De Soto
Fort Osage
Helias
Hickman
Kickapoo A & B
MICDS
North Kansas City
Park Hill South
Savannah
St. Joseph Central
Tuscumbia

The format is pretty much the same as it has been for the last several years - 10 preliminary games on Saturday (over 16 rounds), with teams 6-4 or better advancing to the double-elimination playoffs (6-4 teams are eliminated from the playoffs with only one loss).

St. Joseph Central beats Hickman by shutting them out in the second half to finish prelims 7-3 and Hickman 6-4. At the moment MICDS and Helias are 5-4. NKC lost their last game to go 5-5 but entered after lunch at 1-3 so heck of a fight!

Hickman lost their first match and MICDS should be wrapping up their second against Thomas Jefferson (VA) B for a trophy now! Good season Hickman, St. Joseph Central, and Helias! I had a great time reading for all of you this year!

Hunter wins both games of the final! And that, everyone, is why you keep playing hard until you are mathematically eliminated!

Also congratulations to Alex Donovan and William Gentry, who are both going to be named tournament All-Stars for HSNCT. Well done, gentleman!
