Pre-Nationals (5.13) at Rock Bridge HS

Post by bruins4life »

Rock Bridge High School is once again hosting the Pre-Nationals Tournament and individual Singles Championship (not a weird, Scholar Bowl dating site) will be occur on Saturday, 5.13 in scenic Columbia, Missouri. Registration starts at 8:15AM. Coaches/players meeting at 8:45. Round 1 at 9AM.

We are using the Spring Undergraduate Novice (click this link for the set’s distribution) set that is written to be more difficult than most high school sets and approximates the Small School National Championship tournament while being slightly less difficult than the HSNCT or NSC that many of your teams will be competing in at the end of the school year.

Base fee for the first team from each school: $60
Second or subsequent teams: $50
Travel discount for 100 miles or more one way according to Google Maps: -$5 per team
Buzzer discount (buzzers must be functional): -$5 for each buzzer system
Experienced Moderator discount (upon approval) -$10
With so many teams going to Nationals (and not loving the MSHSAA Districts/Sectionals/State series), this is a fun end-of-the-season tournament to see how you compare to other excellent, Missouri teams. Right now, we’re capping the field at 12 teams, but we will definitely consider expanding, should there be more interest.

The format will mirror all of the national tournaments with 20/20 Tossup/Bonuses with no rebounds. To simulate the HSNCT format, we will use timed, 9-minute halves.

MOQBA will run the Singles Tournament where players will match-up one-vs.-one afterwards. Typically, the Singles tournament starts around 2 or 3PM, once the team tournament has completed. And they will send out an email to give you more information soon.

Please email me a girwin@cpsk12.org to register, or to ask any further questions.

All the Best,
Greg Irwin

Washington A (Joe Stitz) has cleared the field. A three Way tie for second place to be solved by total points re-matches: RB vs. Helias. Winner will play Washington B for 2nd place match.

Final States are up. Congrats on a great regular season.

Thanks to the Hill clan, Amy Sterneke Diana Harmatta, and Ganon from FHN for volunteering to make this a competitive afternoon.
