The Hickman Academic Team invites you to participate in the Kewpie Academic Tournament IV on February 25, 2017 in Columbia, Missouri. We are using a 6-person limit for the rosters of each team at this tournament. If you have more players who are interested in attending, we encourage you to sign them up to play on an additional team from your school.

We will be using the Washington/Hickman Academic Questionfest (WHAQ), our first-ever team-written set of questions, done in collaboration with Washington High School in Washington, MO. Details about the set and the question distribution can be found here: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/viewto ... 09&t=18660. This question set will also be used at Washington High School’s tournament scheduled for December 3, 2016. Teams cannot play at both events.

This year we plan to expand our tournament field to 24 teams. Teams will be entered into the field on a first-come, first-served basis. If the field fills, we will be able to offer teams a 10 game schedule. Entry fee is $70 for each team and a $5 discount for one fully functional 8-person buzzer system per school.

To register for the Hickman Academic Tournament, please email Kathleen Wells-Morgan at kwellsmo@cpsk12.org with the name of your school and how many teams you wish to enter.

Heading into round 10, Moberly is the last unbeaten team, having upended Helias A on the last three tossups (including two powers) to win 280-275. Helias A (2-1) is currently playing Helias B (1-2), while Moberly (3-0) is facing off against Pilot Grove A (2-1). (All teams have defeated CIS, who complete playoff pool play 0-4.)

Wins by Moberly and Helias B will result in the Spartans clearing the field.
Wins by Moberly and Helias A will result in an advantaged playoff, with Moberly holding the advantage.
Wins by Pilot Grove and Helias A will result in a three-way tie for first, with points to determine who will receive a bye to a one-game final, while the remaining two teams play a play-in match.
Wins by Pilot Grove and Helias B will result in a one-game final between Moberly and Pilot Grove.

(UPDATE @ 1545p)
Moberly and Helias A have won their round 10 matchups. It will be the two in an advantaged final, with Moberly having the advantage.
Pilot Grove A has secured third place.

Helias forced the second advantage final match with a decisive 460-170 victory over Moberly. Ben Husting claimed 11 tossups - seven of them were powers.

The second match was a lot closer. Moberly led at the half, but Helias ultimately pulled ahead late to claim the 310-290 victory and the fourth Kewpie Academic Tournament. Each team claimed two powers and nine total tossups, along with 10 points on the bounceback. It came to bonus conversion, which Helias led 200-180.
