Tuscumbia Spring Middle School Academic Tournament - 3/8/14

Post by Jason Loy »

Hello coaches,

I am pleased to announce that Tuscumbia High School will be hosting a middle school academic tournament for students in the 7th and 8th grades on Saturday, March 8, 2014. The hard cap on team size is eight players; we request that you limit teams to six players so as to maximize playing time for all students. As of now, the field cap will be set at 12 teams. We will consider expanding the cap given sufficient interest and sufficient staff.

We have been assigned NAQT's MS-07 question set, although that may be subject to change. Games will consist of twenty ten-point tossups and up to twenty three-part, thirty-point rebounding bonuses. Each team will be guaranteed at least seven games regardless of performance.

Entry fees are as follows:

base fee (first team from each school): $55
second or subsequent teams: $50
travel discount (100 miles or more one way): -$5 per team
buzzer discount (must work for eight players): -$5

To register, or if you have any questions whatsoever, please email me at jloy@tuscumbialions.k12.mo.us. I hope to see you on March 8!

Tuscumbia A won this tournament, and Hallsville A finished second. After a round robin, the field was split into top three and bottom three, and the teams played another round robin within that bracket. After that, both Hallsville A and Tuscumbia A had a 6-1 record. Those two teams then played a one-game final, which Tuscumbia won.

The day went very smoothly thanks to our wonderful staff: Alex Dzurick, Alexis Ash, Ross Sparrow, Ashley Wyrick, Dan Aronhalt, Matthew Stockwell, and Nolan Lupardus. Thanks to all of you.
