Post Ladue Fall Novice Invitational Tournament - November 9, 2013
The Ladue Academic Team is pleased to announce that we will be holding a quizbowl tournament for novice teams on November 9th, 2013, at Ladue High School in St. Louis, Missouri. To register, or if you have any questions, please email laduequizbowl@gmail.com.

The novice tournament will be a mirror of a set produced by the Scholastic Community Outreach Program (SCOP) of Illinois, which is specially written to appeal to newer or inexperienced players. A copy of last year's SCOP Novice set can be found here. It should be noted that the Tuscumbia Fall Academic Tournament is also using the same set of questions, but since the two tournaments are on the same day, there should not be a problem with teams playing the set twice.

As this is a novice tournament, there will be limited eligibility -- only students who are either freshmen or sophomores, or juniors and seniors who are in their first year of high school quizbowl (i.e. those who have not played a high school tournament before October 1, 2013) will be eligible to play. However, if you have any players on your team who are not novices, but would still like to come to the tournament, we are in need of volunteers to help staff. Anyone who helps staff will get a free lunch, and your team will get a discount on your entry fee (see below). So, convince all your varsity players to come along and help out!

The fee structure will be as follows:

First team from a school: $60
Any additional teams from the same school: $50 per team
Buzzer discount*: $5 per system (must be fully functioning for 8 players to receive a discount)
Staff discount*: $10 per staffer
Minimum fee: $20 per team.

*Buzzer/staff discounts are on a first come, first serve basis.

Right now, the field is capped at 12 teams; register fast if you want your team to have a chance to play! To register, or if you have any questions, please email laduequizbowl@gmail.com

---Ben Zhang, Tournament Director

There's only one spot remaining in this field - register now to claim it! We may expand the field to 16 teams if we have enough staff, so if you are available to help out or if you can bring a staffer, please email laduequizbowl@gmail.com!

The field is full, for now. We will probably be expanding to 16 teams in the near future, if we confirm that we have enough staff, buzzers, and rooms to make it happen.

The field has been expanded to 16 teams, which means Eureka B, SLUH, Washington, and Mehlville are in. If you can staff this tournament, please email me at laduequizbowl@gmail.com!

Congratulations to Hannibal High School, who beat Ladue 365-165 in a one-game final to claim the championship. I would like to thank all the players, coaches, and staffers who made this tournament a success, and I hope to see you at the Ladue Invitational Spring Tournament, tentatively planned for April 5.

Statistics are posted at http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournaments/1643. As a reminder, please do not discuss the content of these questions in any public venue until February, since they will be used at other tournaments.
