Post Hallsville Fall Academic Tournament (10/12/2013)
Hallsville is pleased to announce the first annual Hallsville Fall Academic Tournament to be held October 12th, 2013. This tournament will be run in the twenty tossup/bonus format on NAQT's IS-130 Set. Games consist of twenty tossups worth ten points each followed by non-rebounding bonuses worth up to thirty points. Tossups will feature "powers" (additional points awarded for correct buzzes very early in the question) but no penalty for an incorrect early buzz (no negs).
We anticipate using two full round robins in the morning and afternoon with an advantaged final to decide the champion depending on the number of teams registered.
This will be the first Saturday of the 2013/14 season that teams are eligible to participate. We have removed the "negs" to encourage younger players to buzz without the fear of a penalty, so we hope that you will not only want to bring your varsity team to the tournament but your JV teams as well.
We will also be limiting teams to a maximum of six players. But you may sign up as many teams as you wish. We are currently capping the field at 18 but may expand if we can acquire enough tournament personnel to host a larger field but still ensure a quality tournament.

Fees:
base fee (first team from each school): $60
second or subsequent teams: $55
travel discount (100 miles or more one way): -$10 per school
buzzer discount (must work for eight players; limit two per school): -$5

To register, please e-mail me at sallen@hallsville.org to reserve your spot. We look forward to seeing you in October.

Field List:(17/18)
Tuscumbia (1 team)
SLUH (2 teams)
Fort Osage (1 team)
Lexington (2 teams)
Tolton (1 team)
Waynesville (1 team)
Pilot Grove (1 team)
Rock Bridge (3 teams)
NKC (3 teams)
CIS (1 team)
Eureka (1 team)

Interested:
Poplar Bluff
Pilot Grove B
Rock Bridge D
Ladue A
Ladue B

We have switched question sets for this tournament from NAQT IS-125A to NAQT IS-130.

People should attend this. Last March's tournament was easily one of the best-run tournaments I've been a part of.

Also, I should be free to help out with this if you would like my help.

We would greatly appreciate your help Jacob. You and several others are what made last March's tournament run so smoothly.

With the addition of NKC to the "interested list" the field is current to date. But I expect it to change very soon. I have had a few teams on the "interested list" indicate that they will be deciding this week whether or not they intend to add additional teams to the field.

With North Kansas City joining the Field List, there are now only 3 spots left.

We had one school drop two teams from the tournament, but CIS just signed up so we are back to two spots remaining.

I'd like to thank all the teams that participated in this tournament. We had a great time hosting this event and enjoyed talking to the other coaches and seeing the other teams play. I would especially like to thank the wonderful volunteers who helped the Hallsville team staff this event: Charlie Dees, Alex Dzurick, Greg Irwin, Madeline Koenig-Schappe, Jason Loy, Itamar Naveh-Benjamin and Jacob O'Rourke. Thank You! You made things run smoothly!
