Pam Stafford, William Chrisman Scholar Bowl coach wrote:The William Chrisman Scholar Bowl team invites your junior varsity teams to participate in the William Chrisman JV Fall Classic on November 9, 2013.

This is a novice event intended for students who are less experienced or new to scholar bowl. Only students who meet the following criteria are eligible to participate in this tournament:
• All freshmen can play.
• All sophomores who have not played in a national championship can play.
• All juniors who never played a tournament their freshman or sophomore years can play.
• No seniors can play.

The tournament will use the 2013 SCOP Novice set produced by the Scholastic Community Outreach Program in Illinois, which is written to appeal to new and inexperienced players; previous editions of this set are available at quizbowlpackets.com. This set will also be used at the Tuscumbia Fall Academic Tournament and the Ladue Fall Novice Invitational Tournament on the same day.

Games consist of 20 tossups with three-part rebounding bonuses. The field is limited to the first 16 teams to register. If at least 14 teams register, the teams will be divided into two preliminary pools, which will each play a round robin for 7 rounds, ending around 2:45 pm. The top 2 teams from each pool will then play 2 additional rounds and any necessary finals matches to determine first through fourth place. If the field is smaller, an alternate schedule will be used that offers all teams approximately 7-8 games. This is an excellent opportunity for your novice players to gain significant playing time.

The entry fee is $60 per team, with a $5 discount for providing a fully-functioning buzzer system for 8 players. Schools may register no more than two teams or claim more than one buzzer discount. To register, please complete the attached entry form and email it to pam_stafford@isdschools.org . Please note that you are not officially registered until you receive an email confirming that your registration was received and accepted.

We hope to see your team at William Chrisman on November 9. If you have any questions, please contact Pam Stafford.
