Hallsville Invitational Tournament II (2/1/2014)
Hallsville Invitational Tournament II (2/01/2014)
Hallsville High School is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the second annual Hallsville Invitational Tournament on February 1, 2014. This is a varsity tournament but please feel free to bring additional teams.
Format:
This tournament will be run in the twenty tossup/bonus format. Games consist of twenty tossups worth ten points each followed by non-rebounding bonuses worth up to thirty points. Tossups will feature "powers" (additional points awarded for correct buzzes very early in the question) and "negs" (five point deductions for incorrect answers before the question is finished).
We anticipate using two full round robins in the morning and afternoon with an advantaged final to decide the champion depending on the number of teams registered.
Fees:
base fee (first team from each school): $65
second or subsequent teams: $55
travel discount (100 miles or more one way): -$10 per team
buzzer discount (must work for eight players; limit two per school): -$5
To register, please e-mail me at sallen@hallsville.org to reserve your spot. We look forward to seeing you in February.
Field List:(16/16)
Pilot Grove (1 team)
Columbia Independent School (1 team)
Centralia (2 teams)
Cuba (2 teams)
Warrenton (1 team)
Hickman (2 teams)
Fatima (2 teams)

The tournament last March was awesome. Everyone should attend.
Is there a field cap set for this?

Hopefully I'll be able to help out; depends on if my schedule in Moberly allows all of Saturday off.

What set is this tournament using? I think there might be a shortage of powermarked sets if both Hallsville and Hickman intend to run their tournaments with them.

I just received word from Coach Allen that the tournament's been postponed because of the imminent winter weather. Makeup date TBD.

There will not be a make-up date for this tournament this year. We were unable to find a suitable date that would not conflict with other events. We thank everyone that signed up for the tournament and all the volunteers who agreed to help. We hope to try again next year (if the weather will cooperate).
