Dates for 2009-10 Tournaments at MU
Hello, I know these are all quite a ways off, but I wanted to briefly claim the dates for next season's tournaments at the University of Missouri-Columbia. October 10th will be the date for the 2009 Missouri Fall Academic Tournament. This tournament will be a season kickoff event, as that is the first possible date for competition under MSHSAA regulations. We will be using an NAQT Invitational Series set for questions, and will use the same in-game format as last year (20 tossups, powers, negs, and rebounding bonuses). December 5th will be the date for Tiger Bowl II. This tournament will use the same format of HSAPQ written modified PACE NSC format as the first Tiger Bowl. Excitingly, we will be adding a third tournament to our lineup this year. February 13th will be the date of the first ever Mort Walker Invitational. This tournament will be a housewritten effort by the quizbowl team at Mizzou, and it will be run on ACF rules, which means 20 tossups with 30 point bonuses, no powers, but there will be negs, and nonrebounding bonuses. As these tournaments approach, each of their respective tournament directors will post more specifics, but I simply wanted to get the dates out for those interested to start planning accordingly. In addition to the above tournaments, which are going to be run by the Mizzou Quizbowl Club, the Missouri Quizbowl Alliance will be moving the NAQT Missouri State Qualifier to the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2010, hopefully to allow for a more easily accessible site for everyone. The date for the tournament has also been pushed back a month to March 20th. While Mizzou is not directing it, we hope that our location will ensure for an even better tournament next year. The tournament directors will post more information about this event in the future. -Charles Dees, MU Quizbowl Club President

Dates for 2009-10 Tournaments at MU
PACE just today announced that they are changing the format of the National Scholastics Championship. As such, we will be following suit for our Tiger Bowl tournament. The questions will still be written by HSAPQ; however, there will be 20 tossups per game, with 30 point, random-topic rebounding bonuses. There will be blind powers on each tossup worth 20 points, later buzzes worth 10 points, and no neg fives. We hope to see you there!
