Re: Things that don't suck

This somehow seems like whiplash after reading recent posts in this thread, but I just noticed that my high school's team (well, last year's now-graduated varsity, at any rate) is on the MSHSAA front page again. The picture appears to be from our game against Pilot Grove. I probably would never have...

In other news, what about ... Tarkio? ... I know nothing of any other teams, but I don't see Tarkio doing that great this year. Tarkio lost quite a few seniors after last year (myself obviously being one of them), and as far as I know at the moment Tarkio's team consists of a few juniors. Hopefully...

Being on the front of MSHSAA's home page. Yeah, I'd agree with that not sucking. We were on MSHSAA's homepage I believe it was my sophomore year, but they used a picture of the team from my freshman year. Hm... Leaving for senior trip in about 37.5 hours? Being home from state academic bowl? Winning?

I wondered how Class 2 ended. I was pretty satisfied with the Class 1 championship, but then... Yeah, that question was ridiculous - North Andrew buzzed in and somebody on their team said something that didn't make any sense, then my guess as soon as it rebounded was "The Einsatzgruppen of Kiev" or something along those lines.

And, as far as the math strategy thing goes, it is more than totally allowed under MSHSAA rules, and my team does it all the time. It's called strategy for a reason. That would make sense to me. Using that rule, a single-gender school of say 130 students would be classified as having 260 students - a jump from the Class 1/Class 2 border to somewhere in Class 3. Basically, it is a question of who is the best quiz bowl player in Class 1: Virginia Geddie of TJ, Jared McNett of KC Lutheran, Colten Ross (myself) of Bradleyville, Kevin Lang of Tarkio, or Grant Monnig of Glasgow. The 18th Annual MWSU History Bowl was today.
