Yeah, I already applied. But the News-Press had an article about the history guy leaving being the head football coach as well. I'm not counting on it.

My senior year we finsihed something like 103-4 by the time nationals was over. I can't remember if we went into state 99-1, I thought we had 3 losses. Only teams who play in a couple of tournaments can post undefeated records. And losses aren't a bad thing, you have to know where you're weak. But a...

David's appearance on Teen Jeopardy
Wow, congratulations! Very good performance and very gutsy bet in Final Jeopardy. I can only imagine how nerve-wracking that must be. I did yell at the TV quite a lot, but I always do that when I watch Jeopardy -- some people have football, some don't.

Benton is just starting up a quiz bowl team, so some of the players were older than your regular JV players. So it wasn't as much JV as it was novice, if that makes sense. I still think there needs to be an official rule that only sophomores and freshman can play in JV tournaments. As for results, I...

I'll add to Jeff's comments by saying that NKC is going to be really good really soon. They had one star player who was amazing at literature and history, but the rest of the team backed him up really well. They had challenges both games I read for them, one of which was a misunderstanding and the o...

SIGH.
It will actually be the second to last Maverick tournament, this year and probably ever. It is NO FUN spending your entire Christmas break writing questions. So no more. And yes, I'll be there reading.

No one is suggesting that one geographical area has better players than another. What I think everyone seems to be missing is the role of TRADITION in all this. It's traditionally been Mr. Allen's responsibility to pick the Panasonic team simply because I believe he was the first one to do so since ...

At least you didn't answer The Turtles for a question about the Rolling Stones. They named the one guy nobody knows, and then Charlie Watts and Keith Richards, and the team never let me down. NEVER.

Because you so blatantly advertised the poem, Jason, people from this board asked to see it last May, and I did let a few choice people from UMR glance at its length and opening lines in order to quell their curiosity. I think Nate's was from The Violent Bear It Away by Flannery O'Connor (I went under advanced search and used Google Print). My second one was from Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. There, that ends the game until someone posts a new quote.

I think "exceptional" refers to the other end of the spectrum, like special education and such. And I just studied a lot and worked really hard at everything. In public education, that's the big secret to success. That, and figuring out how a teacher wants the work done, and then doing eve...

The News-Press tends to overblow things. St. Joe's not even close to annexing around Savannah, they lost one attempt in the courts, so I'm betting it'll be 5 years tops before they start creeping northward, could be wrong.while Savannah is still eluding St. Joe's annexation binge

No, MSHSAA (apparently) has that restriction only on the state tournament questions (i.e. the one last weekend with the Avery (Colorado) questions), otherwise I'd be out of business. It depends on the tournament format. I had my split sheet, but I misplaced it. Usually it's equal numbers of literature, history, math, and science, then a few less of fine arts, mythology, entertainment, etc. I'm very big on momentum, having the toss-ups be equal in length and providing obscure inf...

And I seriously doubt the board will die when people graduate; it's been going on for quite a while now.
